The goal of the OEF Representative Staffing Experience is that the staff of Olentangy Schools would be representative of the community that it serves. Through recruitment, support and retention initiatives, we aim to increase representation of underrepresented groups, with an initial focus on ethnic and cultural diversity.
Students who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) represent approximately 30% of the student population. We value the rich diversity students bring to Olentangy classrooms and feel it is imperative to their sense of belonging and overall academic success that they experience that same diversity amongst their teachers and principals.
This program will focus on mentoring pre-service teachers in an effort to have them join Olentangy Schools after their pre-service training. A diverse staff within the school community provides everyone, but most importantly, the students the opportunity to learn from others with different perspectives or to see themselves as a reflection of the teachers/staff in front of them.
The Representative Staffing Experience is run by the Olentangy Education Foundation in collaboration with volunteers from Olentangy Local Schools and the Olentangy community and supports the district's strategic plan of promoting a culture of inclusive excellence.
