ZOOlentangy 2022

A HUGE thank you to everyone who made this year’s ZOOlentangy such a success! A fun evening was had by all, and vven more importantly, $6,576 was raised to fund a grant for the Academy for Community Transition (ACT) program. Thank you!

Say Thank You To A Teacher/Staff Member

The Olentangy Education Foundation's Staff Shout-Out Program (formerly Staff Commendation) is a wonderful way to recognize an Olentangy Schools employee who has gone above and beyond to help make a difference this year for you or your child.

OEF recognizes and appreciates that our School District is rich with talented and dedicated employees. Every staff member has an important role in the success of our students. The Staff Shout-Out program provides our community an opportunity to acknowledge teachers and staff across the district who have helped to make a child's educational experience a special one through a written Shout-Out.

Online Staff Shout-Outs may be submitted for any Staff Member, including teachers, administrators, bus drivers, support staff, food service and coaches. The completed shout-out will be shared with the respective staff members and their principal(s)/supervisor(s).

Promoting Kindness, Empathy, Acceptance and Diversity through Literature Circles

Books have the power to change the way students see the world by opening their eyes to diverse experiences, and when students see the world from a new perspective, it makes them more understanding, aware, and accepting.

The teachers at Indian Springs Elementary have been working to promote these core values through the use of picture books, the students have loved this experience, and the teachers have seen the impact of this work.

The 5th Grade team noticed that their older students were ready to take this experience to the next level with novel studies that continue the mission of promoting kindness, empathy, acceptance, and diversity.

Thanks to an OEF Grant sponsored by Delaware Pediatric Dentistry, they were able to add these materials to their classrooms this year.

The result: “The discussion the books sparked has been amazing. Students are talking about kindness, empathy, and diversity and seeing the importance from new and unique perspectives.”
