The Olentangy Education Foundation was founded in 1990 as the Olentangy Pride Foundation, a non-profit, independent organization of community volunteers. The mission of the organization is to raise funds to further enhance the academic programs of the Olentangy Local School District. In 2004, the Board of Trustees changed the organization’s name to Olentangy Education Foundation (OEF) to better reflect this mission.
Throughout its existence, OEF’s fund raising initiatives have been focused on providing teacher and staff grants for innovative programs that are not funded in the school district’s budget, and to award annual scholarships to two deserving seniors at each high school in the district. Since 2001, over $400,000 in grants and scholarships have been distributed by OEF, including over $40,000 in 2011.
The Olentangy Education Foundation’s primary fund raising events each year include:
In 2007 the Foundation created the Olentangy Alumni Association. The Alumni Association’s goal is to become a valued source of information to district alumni, and promote future involvement by Olentangy graduates in efforts to enhance academic and extra-curricular programs within the district through special events and an alumni communication program.
As OEF looks toward the future, the ultimate goal is to increase contributions so that the Foundation can reach endowed status and expand the benefits it provides to our schools. We hope you will consider exploring and supporting the opportunities and events that OEF offers.
