Description: The Olentangy Education Foundation was established as a nonprofit corporation in 1990 to enhance the academic programs of the Olentangy Local School District. The selected recipients will each receive a $1500 scholarship to be used for tuition expenses only for the first year of study. This year, two students from each of the three high schools in the Olentangy Local School District will be selected. Eligible students must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA and must be a senior in good standing. They must enroll in an institution of higher learning in the 2012-13 school year. Primary criteria used to select recipients will include academic achievement, written expression, school and community activities, and interpersonal skills.
Description: As long-term residents and supporters of the Olentangy School District, Darlene and Dimon McFerson have established a scholarship fund through the Olentangy Education Foundation. They have developed this program to award a $2000 scholarship to one male and one female graduating from Olentangy High School and Olentangy Liberty High School and furthering his/her education at The Ohio State University (main campus). Eligible students must have a minimum cumulative 3.25 GPA and include a letter of acceptance from OSU and three letters of recommendation from a high school teacher, coach or advisor, and a community member who has known the applicant for more than one year. Applicants must have attended all four years of their high school career in Olentangy Schools. They must have received a Varsity or Junior Varsity letter in any athletic program or approved club sport, or any arts or music career at Olentangy. Their extra-curricular activities and community involvement must be verified on the application. Applicants should not be currently in receipt of any previously awarded scholarships or local scholarships prior to applying.
